The Anytown Samplers are a professional ice hockey team in the National Hockey League (NHL). They play in Anytown, Ontario, Canada at the Anytown Civic Arena. They are members of the X Division of the Y Conference of the NHL.

History

Add history here. The history should include the origins of the team (for example, if they came from another league or city) and a year-by-year recap of important events in the team's history. It is not necessary to mention every year, but an overview should be here of the important seasons. Equal weight should be given to a team's entire history, not just the last handful of seasons.

The Oldtown Samplers were granted a franchise on 16 July, 2000, and began playing in the 2000–01 season. Despite acquiring star goaltender Homer Itolja they finished last in the league. With an extreme lack of offence and defence, the team resorted to the trap and to physically wearing down their opponents and in doing so set a league record in penalty minutes with 3008 in only 54 games blah blah blah.

By the 2002–03 season, new ownership brought with it new money, relocating the team to Anytown. blah blah blah and the team finished first in their division and went on to win the championship blah blah blah.

Chronological sub-sections

Use headers based on eras of the team: e.g. Founding, The Owner/Manager X era and the like. Not a single season, unless the team is really new, or the season is especially prominent.

Sub-sections:

Typical sub-sections of history include Arenas, Logo and Team Jerseys, Mascots, Rivalries and the like. Some of this may fit within the chronological sub-sections, but sometimes text describing events which are separated by long periods of time would get lost within the chronological information.
