Statement by RashersTierney
editThe name of the state has been a matter of vigorous contention between the Irish government and the government of the United Kingdom. Among those contested names were Eire and 'Republic of Ireland'. Since the Good Friday/Belfast Agreement, those terms, as names, are deprecated by the UK government in favour of 'Ireland'. Use of 'Republic of Ireland' as a name for the state, or by extension, a Wikipedia article about the state, is not value neutral.
