German destroyer Z32 (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

I am nominating this article for A-Class review because it is a good article, and part of a series I'm working on. Iazyges Consermonor Opus meum 14:14, 28 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Support Comments: G'day, Iazyges, I have the following suggestions: AustralianRupert (talk) 11:32, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • there is a mixture of US and British spelling, e.g. "draft" and "draught"
  •  Done
  • inconsistent: "Eight 533mm (21 in) torpedo" (body) v. "53.3 cm (21 in) torpedo" (infobox)
  •  Done
  • as above: "nine 20 mm cannon" (body) v. "9 × 2 cm (0.8 in)"
  •  Done
  • "Eight 533mm": add a non breaking space between 533 and mm
  •  Done
  • something seems missing from this sentence: "...8th Destroyer Flotilla, consisting of Z32 the destroyers Z24 and ZH1 and the torpedo boat T24 set". Perhaps: "8th Destroyer Flotilla, consisting of the destroyers Z32, Z24 and ZH1 and the torpedo boat T24 set..."
  •  Done
  • "German U-boats departing and returning to..." --> "German U-boats departing from and returning to..."
  •  Done
  • "with the destroyer Z27 and the torpedo boats T25 and T27 were sunk" --> "with the destroyer Z27 and the torpedo boats T25 and T27 being sunk."
  •  Done
  • in the Bibliography, suggest adding a translation for the title of the Groner work
  •  Done
  • are there any images that could be added, even one of a sister ship?
  •  Done

Point-by-point review on the A-Class criteria:

  • A1 - sourcing Green tickY
  • A2 - comprehensive, accurate, focused
    • In the second paragraph of the "Service" section (on the Battle of the Bay of Biscay), could there be a little more information about the Z32's particular role in the battle? The paragraph mostly talks about her sister ships.
I'm unable to find mention of her particular role. Unfortunately, the Germans were not nearly as anal as the British in terms of tracking each ships activities, especially on "small" ships like destroyers.Iazyges Consermonor Opus meum 02:29, 2 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • A3 - structure Green tickY
  • A4 - prose Green tickY
    • Only minor issues. I did some copy editing myself, which you can see here.
  • A5 - images Green tickY
    • It is unfortunate that you cannot use a Z32 image specifically, but I suppose the Z39 image is the best that can be done. (I did find an image of a Z32, but using it would involve all the copyright complications.) In case you're interested, there's an alternative image of a Z39 here.

Overall, I'm strongly inclined to support this article after my A2 comment is addressed. I see no major problems. Biblio (talk) 00:00, 29 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Support But some minor comments:

  • Still have one US spelling ("maneuver" should be "manoeuvre")
  •  Done
  • Suggest adding a {{Use British English}} tag
  • Do we need the {{coord missing}} tag? Is this normal with ships?
  •  Done
