This is a proposed list of notability guidelines relating to New Zealand politics.
Politicians
editAll politicians who were members of the New Zealand House of Representatives are presumed to be notable, even if only for a short time.
All politicians who were members of provincial level parliaments also easily meet WP:POLITICIAN criteria.
Mayors
editThere are multiple notability guidelines relating to mayors, listed here in order of superiority.
- Mayors that have received a published obituary or are living mayors of cities.
- Mayors that have been elected to mayoralty at least three times.
- Otherwise, mayors have to satisfy GNG on their own.
DNZB 1940 entries
editAll people listed in the 1940 Dictionary of the New Zealand Biography are considered notable.
Electoral districts
editNotable electoral districts include:
- Parliamentary electorates
- General electorates
- Maori electorates
- Goldminer electorates
- Provincial parliamentary electorates
- Wards of major cities

- Are of New Zealand prime ministers
- Are of leaders of Labour, National, Liberal, Conservative, or Reform.
