Titles

edit

Articles

edit

The Summer Olympic Games-related articles are named according to one of the following six types of titles:

1. [Year] Summer Youth Olympics
For articles describing each edition of the Summer Olympic Games (e.g. 2010 Summer Youth Olympics);
2. [Sport] at the Summer Youth Olympics
For articles describing the history and evolution of a specific Olympic sport at the Summer Olympic Games (e.g. Athletics at the Summer Youth Olympics);
3. [Country] at the Youth Olympics
For articles describing the history and performance of a specific National Olympic Committee (NOC) at the Olympic Games (e.g. United States at the Youth Olympics);
4. [Country] at the [Year] Summer Youth Olympics
For articles describing the performance of a specific NOC at a specific edition of the Summer Olympic Games (e.g. United States at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics);
5. [Sport] at the [Year] Summer Youth Olympics
For articles describing the global results in a specific sport at a specific edition of the Summer Olympic Games (e.g. Athletics at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics);
6. [Sport] at the [Year] Summer Youth Olympics – [Event]
For articles describing the results of a specific sport's event (if the sport has multiple events, e.g. swimming) at a specific edition of the Summer Olympic Games (e.g. Athletics at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics – Boys' pole vault). Note that the Youth Olympics uses "Boys'" and "Girls'" instead of "Men's" and "Women's"

The first three types are considered "main level" pages, meaning they are at the top of the page hierarchy and hold similar but independent ranks within the project. They are the "parent" articles from which the following two page types (4 & 5) are derived. The last type (6) derives from type 5 for multi-event sports/disciplines.

Templates

edit

There are also many templates which help with the navigation between related Summer articles. These template pages are named in the following manner:

1. Template:[Sport] at the Summer Youth Olympics
To navigate between per-Games articles of a specific Summer Youth Olympic sport (e.g. Template:Athletics at the Summer Youth Olympics);
2. Template:Events at the [Year] Summer Youth Olympics
To navigate between articles of all sports at a specific Summer Youth Olympic Games edition (e.g. Template:Events at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics).

Progress tables

edit

The following tables display the existing Summer Youth Olympics-related articles and templates together with non-existing articles and templates that are planned to be created. This helps the WikiProject to assess its development, the current coverage and where work is still needed.

Notice that due to factual reasons, concerning the history of the Summer Olympic Games, some articles are not supposed to be created, even though a place for a possible article might appear in some of the tables (e.g. 1940 Summer Youth Olympics opening ceremony). For the same reason, it is not reasonable to create templates for sports which were contested only once at Olympic level (e.g. Template:Jeu de paume at the Summer Youth Olympics).

Sports per Games

edit

The table presents a full set of article series featuring the history and results of every Olympic sport (past and current) at each edition of the Summer Youth Olympics. It shows type 1 articles in the top row, type 2 articles in a left-hand column, and type 5 articles in the table body.

The two sets of templates previously mentioned are also shown as linked "T"s. Those displayed in a column correspond to type 1 templates, while the ones displayed in a row correspond to type 2 templates. These templates are to be transcluded at the bottom of each page, for navigational purposes.

NOC per Games

edit

The table presents several sequences of articles corresponding to every documented National Olympic Committee's participation history at the Summer Youth Olympics. It shows type 3 articles in a left-hand column and type 5 articles in the table body.

NOCs are ordered by their attendance record — from the most attending NOCs at the top to the least attending ones at the bottom; if NOCs share attendance figures, they are ordered by alphabetical order. Historically related NOCs are shown grouped in between gray horizontal bars, while currently non-existing NOCs have their name in italics and in a light red background.
