In celebration of Women's History Month, the Composer of the Month for March is Louisa Melvin Delos Mars
She was one of the earliest black musicians to achieve recognition as a composer and composed five full length operas which were staged in the United States between 1889 and 1896. Her first opera Leoni, the Gypsy Queen was premiered by the Ideal Dramatic Company in Providence, Rhode Island on 4 December 1889. We need an article on her and if possible, information on her operas.
