Tagging articles

edit

Any article related to this task force should be in the appropriate category either: Category:Unitarian Universalism, Category:Unitarian Universalists, Category:Unitarianism, Category:Universalism or the appropriate subcategory of one of those. Use {{UnitarianUniversalism-stub}} if the article is a stub or {{Unitarianism-stub}} - if it is a Unitarianism related stub or {{Universalism-stub}} - if it is a Universalism related stub.

The talk pages of articles related to this task force should be tagged with the one of the following templates:{{WikiProject Religion|class=|importance=|UnitarianUniversalism=yes|UnitarianUniversalismImp=}}, or {{WikiProject Christianity|class=|importance=|unitarian-universalism=yes|unitarian-universalism-importance=}} to tag the article as being a part of WikiProject Christianity as well. If you don't know which tag to use, use the first one.

Encyclopedic articles

edit

Each of the pages listed at /Encyclopedic articles has at least a short section in a print reference dictionary on Unitarian Universalism. We probably should have, somewhere in Wikipedia, most of the material discussed in it discussed somewhere here as well.

How You Can Help

edit

The quality of a number of the Unitarian Universalism work group articles, including the base article, Unitarian Universalism, suffers from a lack of citations. If you see a fact or statement that you feel needs the support of a reliable reference, please take a few minutes to find one and add it to the article.

Importance scale

edit

The criteria used for rating article importance are not meant to be an absolute or canonical view of how significant the topic is. Rather, they attempt to gauge the probability of the average reader of Wikipedia needing to look up the topic (and thus the immediate need to have a suitably well-written article on it). Thus, subjects with greater popular notability may be rated higher than topics which are arguably more "important" but which are of interest primarily to members of Unitarian Universalism. Importance does not equate to quality; a featured article could rate 'mid' on importance.

Note that general notability need not be from the perspective of editor demographics; generally notable topics should be rated similarly regardless of the country or region in which they hold said notability. Thus, topics which may seem obscure to a Western audience, but which are of high notability in other places, should still be highly rated. Rate international region/country-specific articles from the perspective of someone from that region.

Article importance grading scheme
Label Criteria Examples
Top Subject is a "core" or "key" topic for Unitarian Universalism, or is generally notable to people other than members of Unitarian Universalism. They define and determine the subject of the Unitarian Universalism work group. Unitarian Universalism
High Subject is notable in a significant and important way within the Unitarian Universalist religion, but not necessarily outside it. Canadian Unitarian Council
Mid Subject contributes to the total subject of the Unitarian Universalism work group. Subject may not necessarily be famous. Our Whole Lives
Low Subject is not particularly notable or significant within the Unitarian Universalist religion, and may have been included here on Wikipedia primarily to achieve comprehensive coverage of a topic other then that of Unitarian Universalism. Michael Cassidy
NA Non-articles, templates, categories, redirects, etc. Template:User WPUU
