Welcome to the assessment department of the WikiProject on Rugby League, which focuses on assessing the quality of Wikipedia's rugby league related articles. The resulting article ratings are used within the project to aid in recognising excellent contributions and identifying topics in need of further work, and are also expected to play a role in the WP:1.0 programme.

The assessment is done in a distributed fashion through parameters in the {{WikiProject Rugby league}} project banner; this causes the articles to be placed in the appropriate sub-categories of Category:Rugby league articles by quality and Category:Rugby league articles by importance, which serve as the foundation for an automatically generated worklist.

See also the general assessment FAQ.
1. What is the purpose of the article ratings?
The rating system allows the project to monitor the quality of articles in our subject areas, and to prioritize work on these articles. It is also utilised by the Wikipedia 1.0 program to prepare for static releases of Wikipedia content. Please note, however, that these ratings are primarily intended for the internal use of the project, and do not necessarily imply any official standing within Wikipedia as a whole.
2. How do I add an article to the WikiProject?
Just add {{WikiProject Rugby league}} to the talk page; there's no need to do anything else.
3. Someone put a {{WikiProject Rugby league}} template on an article, but it doesn't seem to be within the project's scope. What should I do?
Because of the large number of articles we deal with, we occasionally make mistakes and add tags to articles that shouldn't have them. If you notice one, feel free to remove the tag, and optionally leave a note on the talk page of this department (or directly with the person who tagged the article).
4. Who can assess articles?
Any member of the rugby league WikiProject is free to add—or change—the rating of an article. Editors who are not participants in this project are also welcome to assess articles, but should defer to consensus within the project in case of procedural disputes.
5. How do I rate an article?
Check the quality scale and select the level that best matches the state of the article; then, follow the instructions below to add the rating to the project banner on the article's talk page.
6. Can I request that someone else rate an article?
Of course; to do so, please list it in the section for assessment requests below.
7. Why didn't the reviewer leave any comments?
Unfortunately, due to the volume of articles that need to be assessed, we are unable to leave detailed comments in most cases. If you have particular questions, you might ask the person who assessed the article; they will usually be happy to provide you with their reasoning.
8. Where can I get more comments about an article?
People at Wikipedia:Peer Review can conduct a more thorough examination of articles; please submit it for review there, or ask for comments on the main project discussion page.
9. What if I don't agree with a rating?
You can list it in the section for assessment requests below, and someone will take a look at it. Alternately, you can ask any member of the project to rate the article again.
10. Aren't the ratings subjective?
Yes, they are somewhat subjective, but it's the best system we've been able to devise. If you have a better idea, please don't hesitate to let us know!
11. What if I have a question not listed here?
If your question concerns the article assessment process specifically, please refer to the discussion page for this department; for any other issues, you can go to the main project discussion page.

Instructions

edit

An article's assessment is generated from the class parameter in the {{WikiProject Rugby league}} project banner on its talk page (see the template page for more details on the exact syntax):

{{WikiProject Rugby league| class=??? | importance=??? | ...}}

The following values for the class parameter may be used:

The following values for the importance parameter may be used:

Articles for which a valid class is not provided are listed in Category:Unassessed rugby league articles and articles for which a valid importance is not provided are listed in Category:Unknown-importance rugby league articles. The class and importance should be assigned according to the quality scale below.

Requests for assessment

If you have made significant changes to an article and would like an outside opinion on a new rating for it, please feel free to list it below. If you are interested in more extensive comments on an article, please use our peer review section instead.

We've been working on this article recently. Please let us know how we're going. - Richard Cavell (talk) 06:04, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Needs a re-assessment to see if it really covers league and union, or if it's a union site with a few league forums. If it's the latter case—which editors to the article have recently asserted—I don't see this being B-level importance in the project. —C.Fred (talk) 20:43, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I know very little about this sport so I can't comment on how accurate this article is, but the amount of refrenced content, quality of expression and organisation put this way above START class. Tigerboy1966 (talk) 19:47, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It has been placed as a C-class article by the Greater Manchester WikiProject. I would agree with this assessment, because it contains organisation and structure that far surpasses the requirements for Start-class, but lacks the comprehensiveness and the standard of referencing required to be placed as a B-class article, baring in mind B-class is only one step below what should be "near professional quality". I have therefore altered the Rugby league WikiProject's quality assessment grade for this article to C-class. GW(talk) 14:54, 6 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Steve Prescott is somewhat of an idol of mine and I just think the article could have a lot more depth. He’s touched so many people, I don’t feel the article does him justice. WBClarkson (talk) 19:23, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've expanded this article and wonder if it is ready to move up from the stub category. It has also been merged with the page on Stuart Cummings' short cricket career. Is it now start quality? Rtande (talk) 19:54, 7 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to merge these two articles as they're about the same person. There is a reference for this on the Adam Cook talk page. I've added a redirect from Adam_Cook_(rugby_league) to Adam Watene and taken the details from the Adam Cook page and added them to the Adam Watene page. Rtande (talk) 19:52, 7 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

There has been significant expansion. Mn1548 (talk) 17:52, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Have assessed as C-class as further inline citations would be required to bring it closer to B-class. Storm machine (talk) 01:20, 17 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Upgraded Mn1548 (talk) 17:52, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Unassessed. Mn1548 (talk) 17:41, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Still needs refs but expansion has been done. It's currently classed as a list and hasn't got an importance rating. Mn1548 (talk) 15:23, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A disparity

edit

World Club Challenge is of high importance but World Club Series is top importance. Series should not be higher than Challenge in importance. Mn1548 (talk) 14:35, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure of its quality but definitely not stub class, and low importance seems very off. Mn1548 (talk) 17:48, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[Year] [Team] Season

edit

Alot of [Year] [Team] Season articles are stub class which need upgrading. They all seem to be based off the assessment when they are created and can do with reassement upon competition of the season. Mn1548 (talk) 14:12, 15 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
