Tamil Eelam (spelled "Thamizh Ezham (தமிழீழம்)" and pronounced "Thaml Erlam") is the homeland and nation of the ethnic Tamil people. It is located below the Tamil Nadu state of India and in the North East of Sri Lanka. Tamil Eelam is also the home land of Tamils who are of the Hindu, Christian and Islamic faiths. Tamils of Eelam from the ancient times, known for their trade, arts, and warfare. Tribes, kingdoms, and sub-kingdoms ruling throughout history were the Nagas, Cholas, and Pandyas.
