Some Wikipedians have formed a project to better organize information in articles related to Dad's Army. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. If you would like to help, please inquire on the talk page and see the to do list there.
This WikiProject's primary goal is to improve and organize articles relating to the BBC television sitcom Dad's Army. This project would like to produce well written and researched articles about this popular television series. Since completing its main goal of a page for every episode, the project's main goal is now improving the main Dad's Army page, and the most visible pages about the series.
History
editThe Wikiproject was founded in 2006, and was successful in creating pages for every episode of the popular series, as well as many of the characters. In addition, for a while the main Dad's Army page was listed as a good article and the List of Dad's Army episodes continues to be a Featured List.
Since completing its main goal of a page for every episode, the project has slowed down somewhat, and has now moved to work on the significant articles about the series - specifically those listed in the Dad's Army template - the TV show, episode list, stage show and film. We would strongly advise against creating any more individual character articles unless they are properly referenced to the many books/websites available on the series. This is especially true for minor characters, whose entries on the List of Dad's Army characters should be improved first.
Thus, the project's main goal is now improving the main Dad's Army page, and the most visible pages about the series.

Structure
editTV and Radio Episodes
editAll episodes must have an infobox in the style of template below. Also, they must have a brief synopsis, a fully detailed plot, and ending details. The page must also include a list of the main cast, e.g. Mainwaring, Mrs Pike, the Vicar etc., but not extras, for example the back rows of the platoon. Finally, you may add any notes that you believe are important about the episode in question. For example: This episode is lost or this episode was meant to be broadcast on the... or perhaps even trivia, such as the specific filming locations. Please use The Man and the Hour (first episode of Dad's army) page as a guide.
For a full describtion of what should be in each section of the episode pages see WikiProject Dad's Army/Episode Structure.
Goals
editTo create detailed pages on all Dad's Army TV and radio episodes and improve all articles so they may get nominated as a GA or a FA. To do this the following has to be done
Improve these Stub episode articles to Start
Improve these Start episode articles to C
- The Man and the Hour
- Museum Piece
- The Enemy Within the Gates
- Operation Kilt
- The Battle of Godfrey's Cottage
- The Armoured Might of Lance Corporal Jones
- Battle School
- The Lion Has Phones
Improve these C episode articles to B Improve these B episode articles to GA
Adopt an article
editSimilar to the Collaboration of the week, but on a smaller scale, you might want to "adopt" an article. This would involve doing the research, writing, and picture-taking (if possible) for either a non-existent article or a stub. Of course, everyone else can still edit an adopted article, and you can work on other things too, but the idea is to find a focus for a while, to try and build up the number of quality articles the Project has produced.
