WikiProject The Simpsons
edit

Some Wikipedians have formed a project to better organize information in articles related to The Simpsons. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. If you would like to help, please inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list there. The scope of WikiProject The Simpsons is to expand, and keep organized, the vast expanse of knowledge that The Simpsons has become. WikiProject The Simpsons will attempt to cover all Simpsons information included on Wikipedia. We will do this through volunteer contributors and editors. If you are interested in joining the WikiProject, please feel free to add your name to the Participants list below, and find yourself an article to adopt.

For more information on WikiProjects, please see Wikipedia:WikiProject and Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide.

Goals
edit
The project aims primarily to:
  1. Write and expand articles related to The Simpsons - as long as The Simpsons is on the air, there is new information about the show to be added.
  2. Organize and manage that content - a mass of information is of no use if it isn't properly organized. Also, make sure that any activity on any Simpsons article is being relayed back to the project. If there is a dispute on a single character's talk page, not everyone is going to see it. Recommend that the dispute be brought to the project; this way you can get the opinions of all the other participants.
  3. Damage control - see something that needs to be done? Be bold! Edit articles, get involved in the discussions on the articles talk page, and feel free to tell us your thoughts and ideas on the WikiProject talk page!
  4. Featured Articles & Good Articles - we have a lot of featured content now, and many Good Articles, let's clean up the rest and get them nominated as well. For more information, see: Featured Article Drive
  5. Maintain the portal.
Tasks
edit
Please refer to the talk page for discussions regarding major projects.
  1. Define two manuals of style for the individual character and episode articles.
  2. Character List cleanup
  3. Standardize all the episode capsules
    1. Keep the episode article free of the following sections: Quotes, goofs, continuity errors and trivia. If some of the text is cited in one of those sections, then it should be moved to a more appropriate section. Quotes should be moved to WikiQuote, unless it is used to underline a point.
    2. Remove all unsourced text from a cultural references section. Each cultural reference has to be cited. Prosify the section wherever it's possible.
    3. Shorten and lengthen the episode synopses where needed. Many synopses in seasons 14-18 are especially long and many in the "classic era" are especially short. See "Cape Feare" for what the ideal length/amount of detail is.
    4. If possible, model episode pages after "A Streetcar Named Marge" and "Homer's Phobia", both of which are FAs.
