Location and general description of property.—The railroad of the Baltimore and Eastern Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track, standard-gage, steam railroad, located within the State of Maryland. The main line extends in a general easterly direction from Love Point, located on Chesapeake Bay, to Queen Anne, a distance of 25.160 miles, with branch lines projecting from Centreville Junction to Centreville, 5.370 miles, and from Queen Anne to West Denton, 7.598 miles, aggregating 38.128 miles of main track. The carrier also owns 3.854 miles of yard tracks and sidings.

CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated July 15, 1923, under the general laws of Maryland, for the purpose of owning and operating that part of the railroad formerly owned by the Maryland, Delaware & Virginia Railway Company, extending from Love Point, through the counties of Queen Anne's, Caroline and Talbot, to West Denton with such branches as may be found necessary, and also to operate in connection therewith a ferry service between Love Point and Baltimore, all in Maryland, which was authorized by Finance Docket No. 4083, 94 I.C.C. 224. The date of its organization was January 4, 1924.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The road, all owned, amounting to 38.128 miles, was all acquired January 2. 1924, by purchase, under our authority, December 8, 1924, 94 I.C.C. 224, from E. B. Leaf Company, who had previously acquired it at foreclosure sale from the Maryland, Delaware & Virginia Railway Company. A predecessor of this company constructed the property and placed it in operation in 1898 and 1902. The recorded mileage is 38.17; the inventoried mileage 38.128.
