The railroad of the Chestnut Ridge Railway Company, herein called the carrier, is a single-track, standard-gauge, steam railroad, located in central-eastern Pennsylvania. The main line extends northeasterly from Palmerton to Kunkletown, 10.586 miles, with a branch from Palmerton to Lehigh Gap, 0.960 mile, totaling 11.546 miles of main track. The carrier also owns 2.674 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its wholly owned and used road thus embraces 14.220 miles of all tracks.

CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated January 23, 1902, under the general laws of the State of Pennsylvania, for the purpose of acquiring, by reorganization, the property, rights, and franchises of the Chestnut Ridge Railroad Company of Pennsylvania, which had been incorporated under the general laws of Pennsylvania March 15, 1898. Pursuant to this purpose, the carrier acquired at its organization the property, rights, and franchises of the corporation named.

The owned mileage of the carrier, 11.546 miles, was acquired partly by reorganization and partly by construction, as shown in the following table:
