editThe railroad of The Gauley and Meadow River Railroad Company, herein called the Gauley and Meadow River, likewise leased to and operated by the carrier [Chesapeake and Ohio Railway], is a single-track line extending from Rich Creek Junction to Marshall, W. Va., a distance of 3.111 miles.
Introductory
editThe Gauley and Meadow River is a corporation of the State of West Virginia, having its principal office at Huntington, W. Va. It is controlled by the carrier through ownership of the entire outstanding capital stock. The property of the Gauley and Meadow River has been operated by the carrier since completion.
Corporate History
editThe Gauley and Meadow River was incorporated April 18, 1912, under the general laws of West Virginia. Its organization was perfected on the same date.
Development of Fixed Physical Property
editThe owned mileage of the Gauley and Meadow River, extending from Rich Creek Junction, W. Va., to end of track, a distance of 3.111 miles, was all acquired by construction. The road from Rich Creek Junction to Marshall, 3.03 miles, was constructed in 1912 and 1913 under the supervision of the carrier and opened for operation in July, 1913. An extension of 0.081 mile from Marshall to end of track was completed in 1916.
Leased Railway Property
editThe entire property of the Gauley and Meadow River is operated by the carrier under an agreement dated February 25, 1913, under which the revenues and expenses have been merged with those of the carrier, the operation being without profit or loss to the Gauley and Meadow River.
