The property owned and operated by the Keokuk Union Depot Company, herein called the carrier, comprises passenger depot facilities at Keokuk, Iowa, including 1.180 miles of yard tracks and sidings. This property is used as a joint facility by the Burlington, the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway Company, the Toledo, Peoria & Western Railway Company, and the Wabash Railway Company, hereinafter referred to as the tenant companies, under an agreement described elsewhere in this report.


The tenant companies own the carrier's stock in the following proportions: Burlington, 40 per cent; the Rock Island, the Toledo, Peoria & Western, and the Wabash, 20 per cent each. On the other hand, the records reviewed do not indicate that the carrier controls any common-carrier corporation.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated June 12, 1890, under the general laws of the State of Iowa, for the purpose of constructing and operating a union depot and terminal facilities at Keokuk, Iowa. The date of its organization has not been ascertained from the records reviewed.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The property owned by the carrier, consisting of a union passenger depot and 1.180 miles of yard and side tracks, was acquired by construction performed under the general supervision of its own forces. It was completed July 1, 1891.
