The Minnesota Northwestern Electric Railway Company, herein called the Minnesota Northwestern, owns no common-carrier property. It operates under lease from the Soo Line a single-track, standard-gauge railroad, extending from Thief River Falls to Goodridge, Minn., 18.671 miles. It also operates 1.452 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its leased road thus embraces 20.123 miles of all tracks. All transportation over this line is by means of a gas electric motor car.


The property of the Minnesota Northwestern has been operated by its own organization during its entire life.

CORPORATE HISTORY

The Minnesota Northwestern was incorporated October 1, 1913, under the revised laws of Minnesota for 1905, for a period of 999 years. Its stated purpose was to acquire, construct, own, maintain, operate, and dispose of a line or lines of railways, railroads, traction lines, street and interurban railways, aerial railways, trams, tramways, vessels, steamers, barges, ferries, docks, wharves, piers, motor cars, busses, bridges, waterways, canals, roads, aqueducts, pipe and pipe lines, for the purpose of transporting for hire passengers, freight, express, baggage, and mail. freight, express, baggage, and mail. DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The property operated by the Minnesota Northwestern was constructed by it during 1914. Construction was commenced in March of that year, and it was completed and placed in operation on October 12, 1914. [then it sold the property to the Soo Line on February 9, 1915]
