The railroad of Peoria Railway Terminal Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a partly double-track, standard-gauge railroad, located between the cities of Peoria and Pekin, in the State of Illinois. The main line is equipped with overhead trolley, and both steam and electric motive power are used in the operation of the property. The owned main line connecting these two cities extends a distance of 9.767 miles. The second main line in the city of Peoria is 2.059 miles in extent, making a total of 11.826 miles of main line. The carrier also owns other tracks totaling 15.999 miles, of which 15.756 miles are solely owned and 0.243 mile is jointly owned. Its road thus embraces 27.825 miles of all tracks owned.


Corporate history.—The carrier was incorporated November 17, 1906, under the general laws of the State of Illinois, to acquire the property, rights, and franchises of the Peoria and Pekin Terminal Railway Company. The principal office of the carrier is located at Peoria. The detailed facts as to the development of the fixed physical property are given in Appendix 2.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The property owned by the carrier on June 30, 1916, was acquired as follows: Purchased May 1, 1907, of the property, rights, and franchises of the Peoria and Pekin Terminal Railway Company, whose road extended from Peoria to Pekin, Ill., 9.767 miles; by construction of the line on Washington Street, Peoria, Ill., 2.059 miles; total, 11.826 miles.

The construction of the 2.059 miles on Washington Street in Peoria was completed and opened for operation on January 1, 1911.
