The railroad of the Richmond Belt Railway, herein called the carrier, is a single-track, standard-gauge, steam railroad, located in western California. The main line extends northwesterly from Richmond to Winehaven, 5.044 miles. The carrier also owns 4.051 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 9.095 miles of all tracks owned, all of which is leased jointly to The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company and the Southern Pacific Company, the former operating the property in odd calendar years and the latter in even calendar years. The carrier provides trackage for the operating companies for switching freight between their own connecting lines and industries.

CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated August 19, 1902, under the general laws of the State of California, for a period of 50 years.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The owned mileage of the carrier, extending from Richmond to Winehaven, Calif., a total distance of 5.044 miles, was acquired by construction. A section about 4 miles in length was built during the years 1903 and 1904 and opened for traffic about February 1, 1904. The remaining mile was opened for traffic on June 30, 1907.
