The railroad of the Sioux City Terminal Railway Company, herein called the carrier, is a standard-gage, steam, switching railroad, located in or near Sioux City, Iowa. The company owns 1.306 miles of first main and 1.235 miles of second main tracks, together with 10.591 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 13.132 miles of all tracks wholly owned and used, exclusive of the land and grading, which are leased from the Sioux City Stock Yards Company.

The carrier is an industrial carrier. It is controlled by the Sioux City Stock Yards Company, and performs a switching service between the packing-house industries and the connecting railroads.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated July 2, 1907, under the general laws of the State of Iowa, for the stated purpose of acquiring and operating terminal railroad tracks in Woodbury County, Iowa. It was organized July 3, 1907.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The property owned by the carrier, consisting of 1.306 miles of first main track, 1.235 miles of second main track, and 10.591 miles of yard tracks and sidings, was all acquired by it through purchase and construction, as indicated on the following page:

The greater part of the main-track mileage and yard tracks and sidings now owned, together with a bridge across the Floyd River, certain structures, machinery, equipment, aiid material and supplies. This property had been constructed and operated by the Union Stock Yards Company and its successor, the Sioux City Stock Yards Company, during the period from 1888 to 1907.

About 0.5 mile of sidings. No details have been obtained regarding the construction of this track.
