The main line extends from Tampa to Brooksville and from Tooke Lake Junction to Tooke Lake, a distance of 61.615 miles.

CORPORATE HISTORY

The Tampa Northern Railroad was incorporated April 7, 1906, under the general railroad laws of the State of Florida. The purpose for which it was incorporated was to construct and operate a line of railroad between Tampa, Fla., and Atlanta, Ga. The date of organization was May 14, 1906.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The road owned by the Tampa Northern Railroad on date of valuation had been acquired by it as indicated hereunder:

The Aripeka Saw Mills Company constructed a private log road about 1903, extending from Tooke Lake, via Brooksville and Fivay Junction to Hudson, all in Florida. During October, 1907, the Tampa Northern Railroad purchased that part of the line extending from Brooksville to Fivay Junction. During 1907, the Tampa Northern Railroad reconstructed that part of the purchased line extending from Fivay Junction to Enville Junction, about 9 miles, abandoned the remainder of the purchased line, and constructed a new road from Enville Junction to Brooksville, about 10 miles. The entire line between Fivay Junction and Brooksville was opened for operation January 1, 1908.

In the construction of road between Tampa and Fivay Junction and the reconstruction and construction of the entire 19 miles between Fivay Junction and Brooksville, R. E. Cullinane and F. M. Sisk were employed as contractors. Cullinane and Sisk controlled the Tampa Northern Railroad during the construction period, and the first named was treasurer of the company.

The first section of constructed road was placed in operation on October 1, 1907, but the contractors conducted the operations until December 31, 1907. On January 1, 1908, the road between Tampa and Brooksville was turned over to the Tampa Northern Railroad for operation.
