Western Arizona Railway
editLocation and General Description of Property
editThe railroad of Western Arizona Railway Company, hereinafter called the Western Arizona Railway, is a single-track line, located entirely within the State of Arizona and extending from McConnico to Chloride, a distance of 23.370 miles.
Introductory
editThe Western Arizona Railway is a corporation of the State of Arizona, having its principal office at Los Angeles, Calif. It is controlled by the Santa Fe through ownership of the entire capital stock. On the other hand, the records reviewed indicate that the company itself does not control any other common-carrier corporation. The property of the Western Arizona Railway has always been operated under lease by the Santa Fe.
Corporate History
editThe Western Arizona Railway was incorporated January 6, 1906, under the general laws of the Territory of Arizona, as a reorganization of The Arizona and Utah Railway Company. The latter had been incorporated April 10, 1899, under the general laws of the Territory of Arizona. Its property, rights, and franchises were sold at foreclosure sale, following a receivership dating from June 9, 1905, to individuals on December 22, 1905, who transferred their title to the Western Arizona Railway on January 9, 1906.
