editThe minimum target goal for participants in the editing workshop is the following:
- Register a Wikimedia account
- Add 1 sentence and 1 citation to any Wikipedia article
- Add 1 statement (structured data with citation) to any Wikidata item
Doing this much will leave participants with insight into how Wikimedia projects work.
Steps
edit- For Wikipedia
- off Wikipedia and in library resources, find a publication with interesting facts
- identify a fact
- now browse Wikipedia for an article covering the topic of the fact
- click edit at Wikipedia article
- type your fact into the Wikipedia edit box
- click "cite" at top, and enter your citation
- click save
- For Wikidata
- Consider Wikipedia's presentation of the Collective Biographies of Women database
- identify a fact
- now browse Wikidata for an item covering the topic of the fact
- insert the fact as structured data
- cite the source
- save
