The April 2011 Backlog Elimination Drive resulted in a huge drop in the backlog. The initial goal of keeping the backlog under 18,000 articles was not met, but the backlog was reduced by 1,573 articles. The top ten editors alone wikified 1,698 articles.
The June 2011 Backlog Elimination Drive was a great success, the goal of 19,500 articles was easily beaten and the backlog was reduced from 20,491 to 19,023. After realizing the primary goal would be easily met a secondary goal of tackling the entire backlog from May 2011 was introduced. While it was not met, the backlog was reduced by 520 articles.
