User talk:Nakasi is requesting unblock, affected by this open proxy block. It's an old one: August '07, could stand to be re-checked. Mangojuicetalk 15:51, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
{{notaproxy}}, never was one. -- zzuuzz (talk) 16:07, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

This proxy is not open; it's one of the caching proxies that Telkom South Africa (SAIX) forces on its customers, which include virtually all dial-up and DSL internet users in South Africa. Hard-blocking this proxy has the effect of intermittently preventing the majority of South African editors from editing. I've tested with a non-SAIX internet account, and the proxy correctly denied me access. I'd appreciate a quick resolution to this problem. Thanks, htonl (talk) 07:58, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

{{inconclusive}} The IP is currently acting as an exit server for an open proxy, but I've unblocked it due to the collateral. -- zzuuzz (talk) 08:17, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Ah, I see. I've asked for this proxy to be added to the XFF list (as most of the other SAIX proxies are) at which point the actual open proxy will be blockable. Thanks for the unblock! - htonl (talk) 08:25, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Tim Starling has added this IP to the XFF list. - htonl (talk) 17:37, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
