This course serves as an introduction into the areas of music psychology and music therapy, with an emphasis on the cognitive neuroscience of music. Students will study the theories on the origin of music and musical abilities, the physics of sound, human perception of music, connections between music and emotion, and the effect of music on the brain. Critical thinking is an ability outcome for this course. As such, students will select a topic in the area of music psychology, generate an annotated bibliography, and create or contribute to a Wikipedia article on their selected topic.
