In this advanced seminar, we examine risk factors and prevalence, diagnostic definitions, classification, empirically supported interventions, transdiagnostic features, and current issues in the scientific study of anxiety and its disorders. As the primary learning goals of this course include becoming an informed consumer of psychology research; gaining an appreciation for the link between scientific research and current theories about anxiety; and developing skills in effectively presenting empirical and theoretical psychological research, we will work to develop or edit a Wikipedia page. You will work individually or in groups on a topic relevant to anxiety or anxiety disorders that is covered in class. Through this work, you will learn to carefully read the literature and think critically about what the general public can learn about this topic and present that information in a concise and effective way.
