Wikipedia (Wiki) topic choice presentation (50 points)'': This is one of the most important steps for this assignment and will lay the groundwork for the rest of the assignment. This means that care and time must be invested in choosing you topic in order for a rewarding and successful assignment. Some guiding points are 1) make sure that you are interested in, motivated by, and academically passionate about the topic you choose, 2) the topic is no too broad (e.g. climate change) or stated differently the topic is specific enough that you can summarize the available peer reviewed chemistry, 3) there is a strong conscientious by the scientific community as a whole on the subject, and 4) you avoid topics that you maybe have a belief rather than scientific bias on.
The 3-4 minute presentation should concisely cover why you choose the subject, why you contribution is import, and what you will be contribution in terms of the chemistry.

Draft of starter article (25 points): This part of the assignment will consists of two or three paragraphs, which act as a very rough template of your article contribution. This document should cover 1) how you came to settle on this topic, 2) why is the chemistry important and how does it link to the larger picture and 3) what is the chemistry (at least 1 or 2 central, to the topic, chemical equations should be included.
Points that should be addressed are:
1) What you would like to contribute and why is it important
2) Is your contribution new or will you be augmenting an existing, and why?
3) What are two or more 1) potential existing Wikipedia pages to link to, 2) external webpages to be linked to, peer-reviewed scientific articles that are directly related to your Wikipedia page and will be referenced in the final version of your page?
4) Have you fully explored Wikipedia to confirm that your contribution will be unique and original.
5) What terms did you use to do you background research.
6) What are two other topics that you would also consider for this assignment, include a concise explanation of how they are significant in terms of missing Wikipedia content and course content.

- Assignment - Final Article Draft (Oct 10th)

Final draft of article (50 points): At this stage the bulk of your article should be in place and include:
1. The social importance of your topic and how its fits into the bigger picture of environmental issues and chemistry
2. An explanation of the fundamental chemistry of the topic.
3. A linking of the chemistry to the large issue.
This can be viewed as an hour-glass approach in which one starts with the broad issue then narrows the topic down to the fundamental chemistry and then expands the chemistry into the broad issue. In other words what is the issues, what is the chemistry of the issues, and how does a knowledge of the fundamental chemistry help us understand and hopefully address, overcome, or minimize the issue. In addition, at this point you contribution should be correctly formatted and referenced.

Peer review of draft article (75 points): In this part of the assignment you will be reviewing three of your classmates’ draft articles. The major aim is to provide your fellow students with as much feedback as possible to make their articles as professional and good as possible. A Wikipedia page evaluation rubric will be provided to the reviewers, this will be the same rubric that will be used to mark your Final Live Wikipedia page.

Final Live Wikipedia Article (200 points): This part of the assignment will consist of two marks. The first will be an evaluation of the Wikipedia page as whole based on its content (please see evaluation rubric in the course information sheet) and a reflection document (please see reflection rubric in the course information sheet).
