This exegesis course provides an in-depth examination of the book of Judges in English translation. This biblical book presents Christians and Jews with an excellent opportunity to develop literary approaches to biblical narrative and to deepen our theological imaginations regarding leadership, gender. Students will gain a toolbox of hermeneutical methods for contemporary ministry and will respond to this biblical book with appropriate and creative assignments.

Students will create and/or edit Wikipedia articles related to the themes and characters in Judges. Students will cite biblical scholarship and maintain a neutral point of view. They could work on Wikipedia articles regarding Judges, Deborah, Jael, Othniel, Samson, Jephthah, Abimelech, Delilah, Deuteronomistic History, etc.
