The course covers the lawmaking process at the federal level. Each student will be responsible for researching the influences behind the passage of a major federal law from the period 1947-2012, using contemporaneous newspaper reporting, committee hearings, committee reports, floor debates and presidential statements. Students will update the legislative history section of the Wikipedia page of the law they have chosen.
