This course examines multi-cultural texts and the socio-economic and political contexts in which they were developed. We first read texts on the civil rights movement (notably Alice Walker's Meridian) followed by women's rights and then move into texts written by Arab Americans about the Gulf and 2003 Iraq Wars. The capstone project is a research paper.
