- Assignment - Get started on Wikipedia
This week we will begin our Wikipedia assignments in earnest. The trainings and resources provided here are intended to acquaint you with the basic structure of Wikipedia pages and introduce you to some of the technical knowledge you will need to become a Wikipedia editor. If this feels intimidating, don't worry! The process is fairly straightforward and you will have lots of guidance along the way.

- Assignment - How to choose your article
This week you will decide which specific Wikipedia article you will edit/expand or create for your assignment. First complete the training "Finding an article," which will offer tips on selecting an article for your project. Then complete the exercise titled "Find potential article." As part of this exercise, you will be taken to a Wikipedia page where you can list articles you are considering working on and weigh their strengths and weaknesses. Please make sure you complete this assignment before class. Next week you will need to finalize your article selection. When you have completed this training and assignment, proceed to "Practice editing Wikipedia"
- Assignment - Practice editing Wikipedia
This week you will also practice editing Wikipedia. If you wish, you can review the training "How to edit: Wikicode vs Visual Editor" then complete the training "Adding citations." When you have completed the trainings, choose one of the articles you are considering editing for your final project. Follow the instructions in the excercises "Copyedit an article" and "Add to an article" to practice making small changes (improving the writing of a sentence and adding 1 citation) to an existing article. You may also want to consult the very helpful resource below: "Editing Wikipedia." When you have completed this assignment, and by the end of the week at the latest, proceed to "Asign yourself a Wikipedia article."

- Assignment - Peer review an article
For this assignment, you will be assigned two of your colleagues' draft articles to review. Follow the instructions in the training above to learn where to record your peer review comments and the kinds of issues to look for. If you see grammatical or stylistic errors on the page, you can make notes of these as well. Peer reviews should all be completed BEFORE coming to class, so make sure you have marked out time between Sunday night and Wednesday afternoon for this assignment.
- In class - Respond to your peer review
You probably have some feedback from other students and possibly other Wikipedians. Consider their suggestions, decide whether it makes your work more accurate and complete, and edit your draft to make those changes.
