This course covers gender and sexuality in early Christian communities, including notable women, issues around women's leadership, monasteries and celibate communities, gender and martyrdom, saints' lives, etc. The Wikipedia assignment will involve creating new articles or editing/adding content to articles on notable figures, topics, and places in the course.

- You can evaluate any article remotely related to our class topic; you are not choosing the article you will edit or write NOW. Just pick something to evaluate, and next week you'll pick your article.
- You do not need to write a long long tome. Some of the questions on the list are yes/no.
- Have a one or two sentences per section
- Then the last section OVERVIEW might have a paragraph on strengths/weaknesses
This Week's unit should take 1.5-2 hours. We are not meeting on Wednesday, and the Wednesday reading is short, so you should have time.

- Be sure to evaluate your article for content gaps before you start writing
- Start editing/writing in the Sandbox
To earn a Satisfactory this milestone assignment you should have:
- List of sources formatted correctly with...
- relevant class material
- at least 3 highly relevant, peer-reviewed academic sources from outside of class (be sure to include any books/articles I recommended to you)
- Have made at least one substantial addition or edit with a source in the article Sandbox
- completed almost all exercises and modules in previous weeks
To earn an Excellent on this milestone: fulfill the above requirements, complete all exercises in previous weeks, few to no technical or formatting or spelling/grammar errors.

Peer review due before class begins Wednesday April 12. You will discuss peer reviews in groups after the student-led discussion in class.
Dr. S tips and instructions for peer review:
- Be SURE to read and KEEP OPEN in a WINDOW next to the article you're peer reviewing (not a tab so you don't have to flip back and forth) the "Guiding Framework" lesson -- it has all your instructions
- You can take notes in another document on your computer or on paper and then edit and copy them over to the user talk page when you are ready
- Be sure your comments are specific enough so that your peer can understand your point. Examples:
- "That sentence needs a citation" is vague because we don't know which sentence but is specific in its instruction on what to do.
- "I don't understand this assertion: '[copied and pasted sentence from article]'" is specific in copying the relevant sentence but is vague because we don't know what you mean by not understanding (grammar/style unclear? vocabulary or names that are not general knowledge that have not been introduced? no evidence for the assertion? what don't you understand)
- try to be specific on both aspects -- what you are commenting on and what about it is working or needs improvement
- Please do not be afraid of commenting on weak areas. No one wants to offend fellow students. But remember, suggestions for improvement made in a kind way are a gift.
- Please be sure your comments are in the correct section (the author's User Talk Page --the Wikipedia "Guiding Framework" lesson tells you where it is)
- Assignment - Respond to your peer review
You probably have some feedback from other students and possibly other Wikipedians. Consider their suggestions, decide whether it makes your work more accurate and complete, and edit your draft to make those changes.

- Response to peer review will be complete when you've replied to the message(s) your reviewer(s) left on your talk page and have made some edits to your article sandbox to address the peer review feedback.
- Take notes during your peer review discussion in class Wednesday also
- Responses are due Friday April 14 at noon. I will check your article sandbox and your User Talk page
- Milestones
Every student has finished reviewing their assigned articles, making sure that every article has been reviewed.
Every student has responded to peer review on their User Talk Page and has made one or more edits in their Article Sandbox to address one or more comments. (While responding to at least one comment is due April 14, students should continue to take into account all the comments and address all useful ones before the final article editing is due.)
No extensions for Wednesday's peer review since your peer must have your reviews to do their own work for Friday. Tokens can be used for extensions to Friday's responses.
Rubric for Satisfactory on Peer Review: fulfills at least #s 1-4 & 6 below.
Excellent (earns token -- the final WP evaluation is what counts towards Excellence credits for an A in the class) fulfills all rubric criteria:
- 1. Specific and substantial comments/suggestions on the article content of two articles by Wednesday class
- 2. Specific and substantial comments/suggestions on the Bibiography of two articles by Wednesday class
- 3. Comments on at least one way in which each of the articles you're reviewing are helpful for your own work by Wednesday class
- 4. Comments/Suggestions are in the correct place (User Talk pages) and formatted and written with few errors that interfere with reading/understanding comments
- 5. Participates in peer review discussion in class Wednesday
- 6. Makes one or more edits by Friday to their own article in response to Peer review
- 7. Responds briefly on their peer reviewers' comments on their User Talk page by Friday noon
