History and Systems of Psychology examines theoretical and historical developments in psychology, with an emphasis on the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The course analyzes the intellectual trends in, as well as the social and cultural implications of, psychology over the past two hundred years.
For the Wikipedia assignment, students will create new pages for psychologists and mental health practitioners for whom there is no Wikipedia page. The student's selected individual must represent someone marginalized in the history of psychology. Women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and persons born outside the United States and Europe satisfy the course's broad definition of people marginalized in the history of psychology.
