Referring to the Prusik Knot (Kisurp spelled backwards)... "Aside from emergancy situations, its most common use in mountaineering and climbing is now as a backup knot. In this application, it is often known as a dead-man's hand for abseiling." --kizzle 18:22, Jun 21, 2005 (UTC)
- What does the ! imply? (You'll have to explain what the ! in the question means in the context of your answer for you get it correct.) -- AllyUnion (talk) 05:37, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- If you tilt it sideways it kinda looks like an !--Zxcvbnm 16:40, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)
!Kisurp
- If we replace Prusik with the fact that it's a knot, you get: Knot! , like in You're cool....Not! as seen in Wayne's World. --kizzle 16:53, Jun 22, 2005 (UTC)
- Or maybe the ! means the rope itself.
If KISURP is the Knot and ! is the rope Then !kisurp would be going in the same direction as the picture--Zxcvbnm 03:42, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Nope. The exclaimation point implies two things, specifically. Question yourself, why was the exclaimation point placed at the beginning of "Kisurp"? -- AllyUnion (talk) 08:50, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Maybe if the knot is used as a last resort, then the exclamation would symbolize a disaster in which you would need to use the prusik "back up knot" AFTER it. And the prusik spelled backwards symbolizes its usage as a "back"up knot. So you need to use the "back"ed up word after the exclamation.--Zxcvbnm 00:09, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)
In German, which is what is spoken in Austria where the Prusik knot was created, an exclamation at the end of a sentence implies a command. But there is no verb in the puzzle so it probably is not a command. Just rambling something that might help. Nis81 20:02, Jun 24, 2005 (UTC)
It might mean like "the rope broke! use the prusik!" Like a command.--Zxcvbnm 20:48, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- You know, you people have really got to search for the answers. -- AllyUnion (talk) 22:41, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Are you SURE this is in Wikipedia??--Zxcvbnm 02:35, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- I'm not going to spell it out for you. Why don't you look before you tell me you can't find anything? -- AllyUnion (talk) 13:00, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Ok, this is just ridiculous.. I searched but there is nothing at all about an exclamation.--Zxcvbnm 00:29, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Not my problem because the answer is quite obvious if you know what you're looking for. -- AllyUnion (talk) 07:31, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)
! is the not operator in some programming languages. In Boolean logic, applying a NOT operation inverts the bits. Now !Kisurp backwards would be Prusik! (ignoring punctuation), and since ! is the NOT operator (which could be taken to mean knot), the answer is Prusik knot. Alphax τεχ 08:23, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)
