Club Updates

edit
  • Officer elections are coming up in February! As our President and Vice President are graduating this semester, there will be a big shift in officer roles. If you are interested in running for a position, please keep this in mind and consider running! More details will be provided soon.
  • In collaboration with our advisor Leigh Bonds, Wikipedia Connection will be hosting a 1Lib1Ref brown bag session on January 31st. In this librarian-oriented training session, participants will learn the basics of Wikipedia editing and discuss the ways in which Wikipedia can be integrated into information literacy instruction.
  • There are a couple speaking opportunities coming up where Wikipedia Connection has been asked to attend classes to introduce and discuss editing Wikipedia with students. If you're interested, please get in touch with Kevin Payravi.
    • On Thurs., January 26th (11:10-12:30), there is a Geography class that is interested in engaging with a more hands-on, interactive evaluation of source material and objective writing. We will be presenting for roughly 15 minutes at the end of class to discuss how we go about analyzing and editing Wikipedia articles.
    • On Thurs., February 9th (11:10-12:30), a global information class would like us to discuss and introduce editing Wikipedia to students (20-40 min). Students will have been assigned readings prior to the session, and will be asked to contribute topics for us to edit at our upcoming Art+Feminism Edit-a-thon.
