In the growing tradition of Wikipedia Takes Your City, a crew of Perth Wikimedians and Fremantle Society members are organising Wikipedia Takes Fremantle, a photo scavenger hunt aiming to increase Wikimedia projects' photographic coverage of Fremantle, Western Australia and environs.
You don't have to be involved in Wikipedia, or an amazing photographer, or anything in particular other than interested in Fremantle and helping record just one day in history. A list of goals is provided, and you walk/ride/bus around town taking some number of photos of each of them, before regrouping back at the venue in the afternoon for uploading and prize-giving. A barbeque is likely. The Society is donating a copy of the history of the Society, Fighting for Fremantle by Ron and Dianne Davidson, as a prize.
The event page is now active on the Scavenger Hunt tool: http://toolserver.org/~contests/viewevent.php?event=13 The goal list hasn't been transferred yet, but will be soon.

---|---|
11:00–15:00 | Try to take as many good shots of all the goals as you can. |

Internet connectivity at the venue is limited to 3G modems (of which there will be at least one, never fear), and there is the offer of a faster connection just down the road on High Street.
Goals
editSee /Goals for the complete list in a form suitable for printing and taking with you on the day, and below for some topics that might need to be added to the list.
We're currently building the list of goals:
Anywhere in or around Fremantle is fair game, as well as anything or anyone related to Freo in any way.

- Advertise, on-wiki and (more importantly?) offline;
- Change that header image!
- Add to the /Goals ;-) .
- Write a few points about how to take photos of things (other Wiki Takes the City organisers seem to mention something about this; I'm sure photographers will have an opinion?).
