Kept or merged?

"An article about a high school should only be kept if it can meet the criteria in the general notability guidelines. Furthermore, an article should be kept, but tagged for sources, if it can meet the guidelines but currently lacks the required sources."

So re Jimbo's talk page, should it say that the article should be kept, or should the article be a redirect to a section of the article on the town, till sources are found? For example, till you sourced it should it have been:

Guide to writing an article about a high school

Rename discussion

This essay needs to be renamed. The title has obviously caused confusion in that many editors think it is "All high schools are notable". This has continued to the effect that the primary reason that led to the essay being created has been lost. This essay is meant to refute the belief that an unsourced stub of a high school article where only the existence of the school can be confirmed is notable. Discussions have taken place to show that this is a misguided view based on circular logic. The viewpoint of this essay is laid out in the "This page in a nutshell" section. LoL, sorry -- if its you're essay, rename it. I would suggest Ryan Vesey thinks most high schools are notable but that doesn't mean all high schools are notable, so don't get wise to me, you 57 student sleep away farm thingy in Montana.--Milowent • ^talkblp-r 04:30, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Some thoughts

I really like this essay, and hope that its essence (if not a direct link to the essay, becomes a part of the Schools Guidelines).

Just some thoughts:

1. See if it is possible to come up with one of those catchy abbreviations like WP:HSN so that this can be referenced quickly in edit comments.

2. When you write that a good school article should reference "academic standards" ... I instantly think "mission statements", and paragraphs that begin "Foo School is well known for having the highest academic standards ..." While I'm not 100% sure what you were shooting for here, maybe it is along the lines of "academic achievement" (what is the school's ofsted/average ACT, etc ... Does the school make any substantial state and/or national rankings (or non-American equivalents) ... Has the school received any other recognition for academics (Blue Ribbons, etc)???

Academic standards isn't something I added myself actually. My view of it is that the article could include testing scores and things like that. I think something like the awards section in North Gwinnett High School is appropriate. Ryan Vesey Review me! 17:24, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

High School Graduates

Some high schools are especially notable because the school shaped graduates into important people by the education and sometimes the mentoring they provided.
