DRAFT:

• Women in Green.On 10 February 2020 the project became a WikiProject in its own right after about four and half years as a task force. The project is dedicated to promoting articles on women to Good Article status. Currently only about 4% of GAs are about women, and very few core articles have reached GA status. New members and interest in this would be appreciated.

• Wikipedia:The Great Britain/Ireland Destubathon. The Great Britain/Ireland De-stub-athon is an edit-a-thon contest that aims to vastly decrease the number of stubs we have for the UK and Ireland. This focuses particularly on places and listed buildings, but the contest will include everything. It aims to eliminate as many of our 44,000-odd stubs as possible, and to see content improved for every single county of the UK and Ireland as evenly as possible. It covers all 48 counties of England (as well as the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man), 32 in Scotland, 32 in Ireland and N Ireland, and 22 of Wales, 134 counties in total. Wouldn't it be great to be able to browse a Google map of the UK and Ireland and to read a consistently good quality article for every village and monument you zoom in on? That's the primary goal we have in mind long term here!

• Wikipedia:WikiProject_Military_history/March_Madness_2020. March Madness is a backlog reduction drive, which will run from 00:01 UTC on 1 March through to 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2020. The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project; however, only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. This year the drive is focused on several goals, listed at the event's page, such as e.g. creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

• tagging article and non-article talk pages that fall within the project's scope, including adding articles to MILHIST task force
  • assessing articles that fall within the project's scope, including Good Article nominations
  • updating the open tasks template on Milhist task force pages (e.g. Template:WPMILHIST Announcements/Japanese military history)
  • adding or improving listed resources on Milhist's task force pages (e.g. Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/African military history task force)
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

• Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Blitzes/February 2020. This Copy Editing Project Blitz is a one-week-long effort of the Guild of Copy Editors to reduce the backlog of articles that require copy editing; those carrying the {{copyedit}} tag or listed on the GOCE Requests page. It began on 16 February 2020, at 00:00 (UTC) and will end on 22 February 2020, at 23:59 (UTC).

    • Articles tagged for copy-edit in August 2019
    • Requests
    • Blitz participants can earn barnstar awards based on the number of articles—and the word counts of the articles—they copy edit. Awards will be given out once the blitz has finished.
  • The blitz is open to all; you don't have to be a member of the Guild of Copy Editors to participate. You should be fluent in English grammar and spelling. Please read Wikipedia's guide to basic copy editing before you begin working. If you're unsure about spelling or grammar, consult the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. Fluency in English is especially important for articles on the Requests page.

• Art+Activism: 2020 Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon —Art+Feminism is pleased to announce the theme of its seventh annual Wikipedia Edit-a-thon is Art+Activism. Activism is something that is deeply rooted in the fiber of this organization. Art has long been a vehicle to reflect and urge social, political and cultural change. Just like the word “feminism” can have different meanings to the individual, “activism” can as well. We welcome all interpretations, wide and narrow, of Art+Activism to be part of our 2020 campaign.

  • How We Organize: From the beginning, Art+Feminism has paid careful attention to how and where we organize our events, prioritizing off-wiki channels of communication. We use the Programs & Events Dashboard instead of meetup pages, and we are collecting the list of events on our website, rather than here. We do this because our UX/UI review found that, because we had so many events and the wiki interface is confusing to new users, this main meet up page was difficult to parse and folks were missing events in their towns.

===February 2020===

• Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Blitzes/February 2020. • The Great Britain/Ireland De-stub-athon is a contest/editathon aimed at expanding over 1000 stubs for the UK and Ireland. Almost $500 in Amazon voucher prizes are offered for most articles and most counties covered.

can we restore edit links for sections?

thanks for all your great input above. the material above has now been added. now that we have this new content, I noticed that we do not have edit links here for individual sections here. is it okay to restore these? also, does anyone know what code we need to enter here? Longago this function was disabled because it's transclueded on the community portal that also has no TOC. We also don't use level 1 headers so no line break appears in transclution.--Moxy 🍁 04:51, 5 March 2020 (UTC)

• Suggestion: that we restore the edit links for individual sections.
  • the reason for my request is simple; I am trying to expand the usability of this page, and make it a real community resource.
  • perhaps more wikiprojects will add notices here, if we make it easier for them to do so.

@GoodDay:; actually, I meant this as a separate topic, since it pertains to edit links for sections for this page, not to the topic of adding new information re community events. I do understand your point that the two items are somewhat related, since I requested this based on the new information that I recently added, but I felt that the technical areas are actually separate and distinct.

Re your comment below in the section regarding the notice at Village Pump, I do take your point; yes, in that case, the two things are directly related. I will keep your point in mind about using subsections when commenting on an existing topic. thanks. --Sm8900 (talk) 17:24, 6 March 2020 (UTC)

restore edit links for each section

hi all. i really think this poage would be much more convenient, easy to use, easy to edit, etc, if we restored the links to edit each section individually. please feel free to comment here. thanks.

This page is used for transclution on the community page....were the one section that needs updating has an edit button. All other sections are static in nature or updated by bot.--Moxy 🍁 15:39, 26 August 2020 (UTC)

AFI and signpost

The AFI template and the Signpost are interacting weirdly, with the AFI box coming up all the way to the top of the Signpost one. I think the table template is messing with it somehow; anyone know how to fix? {{u|Sdkb}} ^talk 02:36, 30 January 2021 (UTC)

BRD edits

In being bold, I decided to re-organize this page. All the same information is there, except it's better grouped and easier to navigate. This page had 2 problems before the change: 1) all of the boxes on the side are difficult to notice and interact with since they're shoved off to the side. I've mitigated this by condensing them to the center of the page when possible. 2) The long lists of events/projects/notices are hard to distinguish and navigate. I've organized them into coloured boxes, and condensed the categories, so that we don't have redundant distinctions between "Monthly projects" and "Table for group projects, by Wikiproject" etc. — PerfectSoundWhatever (t; c) 01:23, 13 June 2022 (UTC)
