Bug report
editHi, nice script :), I have a small problem, note I am using Internet Explorer 8, which could be causing this :). When I select "prod", the prod dialog box is hidden behind the page (I can provide a screenshot if need be). Also, would it be possible to have a cancel button on the box? At the moment the only way to get away from it is move to another page. - Kingpin13 (talk) 21:43, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hi! Happy to see someone else testing this. I know that it isn't much yet; just give it a little time to grow. Anyway, there should be a small "×" on the left side of the text in the status bar, e.g., to the left of the "P". I haven't tested that in IE yet... I hope to make it more noticable, but was having trouble getting it to use an image or something similar, and I thought that that making a "pretty" close button was lower on the list than the script's core functionality. :)
- Anyway, I'll open up IE8 and see if I can debug whatever problem there is, if I can replicate it. As a side note, do you need to reload the page in IE8 in order to use the button, or is it on every page without needing to click the browser "reload" button? Thanks! –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 21:54, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- It's on every article page automatically (except from non-article pages, which I see is purposely done, looking at the code), I meant to note this as you said it wouldn't be :). Possibly you were using IE7 when you said this? - Kingpin13 (talk) 21:58, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- Okay; well that's good at least. I opened up IE8 on my computer and (after playing around with the cache a bit; deleting history, Ctrl-Refreshing, etc.) the button finally showed up, but still only if I refresh the page before each use of Dazzle! (the still-underconstruction and as-yet-unreleased DI function, however, shows up on every page). :/
- However, I cannot duplicate either of the bugs that you describe. The "×" button is there, and works, and the floatbox appears on top of the page normally. Two quick questions: Do you have the JavaScript Standard Library enabled in the gadgets section of your preferences? That might make a difference... I'm not positive, though. Also, I know you're using IE8, but can you find the specific version? It could be a bug there. Mine looks to be 8.0.6001.18813. IE-compatibility is one of my goals with this script, but it definitely isn't top priority (most users can just download Firefox, since its free, but I understand that some can't). A screenshot would be helpful if you wouldn't mind. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 22:12, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- Aha! I see what you're saying. The script seems to work fine in Beta/Vector skin (which is what I use), but is behind the page content when Monobook is being used. I'll try futzing with Z-index stuff or something like that to see if I can't come up with a fix. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 22:42, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- And... it should be fixed! I just switched the code to append the floatbox to the "content" area rather than the entire "body" area, so it now works in Monobook and Vector, at least. Not sure about the others, but they aren't nearly as widely used. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 22:47, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- Great! It's working now, although the close button isn't :/. I'm using v8.0.6001.18703. Cheers - Kingpin13 (talk) 23:32, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- Okay; do you see the close button and it just doesn't do anything, or is it not there at all? –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 02:11, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- Can see the button, and click it. But nothing happens when I do - Kingpin13 (talk) 10:06, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- Okay then; I'll see what I can do. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 12:31, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- This edit should have fixed that particular bug. If you encounter any other problems, please don't hesitate to ask! Also, if there's any particular task that you do repetitively (e.g., deletion nominations, requests for page protection, article tagging, etc.) and which could possibly be handled by Dazzle!, feel free to ask and I'll see what I can do about making a module for it. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 12:54, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- There is now an actual image for the close icon, and it is floated to the right of the box header. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 19:38, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Great, it works now (I haven't actually tagged anything yet, LOL). - Kingpin13 (talk) 13:35, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

AIV reporter
editOne thing I would find very helpful would be an AIV reporter. I find when there's a user who's vandalising once every ten seconds, there's just not time to revert and report. So you end up having to give them a break while reporting, and then you have to work at double the speed to catch up. If it would be possible to add a tab on user contribs/page/talkpage to report them to WP:AIV that would be great. Also, if possible, it would be nice to have some preset reasons to choose from, but be able to write out your own (e.g. "Vandalism after final warning", "Spam after final warning", "Attack pages after final warning", "Other"). Just a suggestion :), see what you can make out of it. (P.S. If you want to add this suggestion in to a new section (as half the message is related to the bug, and the other half to the suggestion), feel free to). - Kingpin13 (talk) 13:35, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- That certainly sounds doable and useful. I think that I'm almost done with the "deletable image" module, so I'll work on this request once that is done. Thanks! –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 14:05, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- This sounds INCREDIBLY useful. AIV reports are such a pain to construct... --King Öomie 14:20, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
DI on deleted pages
editHi there again. Same as the problem with the prod tab showing up deleted/non-existent pages, but it's the di tab that shows up. Also, any update about how soon I can except the aiv reporter? Best :) - Kingpin13 (talk) 14:23, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- Okay; I'll fix the di tab. Anyway, I've been doing some coding in Real Life™ that has limited my time here a little; I hope to have an AIV reporter done soon-ish, but first I need to finish one more slight code reworking. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 19:51, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
- That sounds great. Good luck with the coding :) - Kingpin13 (talk) 19:53, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. :) Anyway, I think that I fixed the DI bug. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 19:58, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Deletion of page content on seconding a PROD
editI experienced this odd behaviour when using Dazzle! to second a proposed deletion, in which a significant chunk of the article text was removed. I neglected to thoroughly check the edit myself, but fortunately it was spotted and fixed by another user. I'm running Firefox 3.5.4. AJCham 17:13, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks; I'll look into it. It looks like there may have recently been some tweaks made to MediaWiki in vector skin at least... it may have broken some other things. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 02:06, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- Quick question: did you enter something for a reason to second the nomination? Might help narrow down possible reasons for the bug. It should work either way, but... –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 02:11, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Not showing up half the time in vector
editThe Dazzle! tab is not showing up half of the time when I load pages in vector :(. I'll stick with TW for now ;) Airplaneman ✈ 17:54, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
- I don't know if this will help, but the tab only shows up on pages where there is a Dazzle! function that can be used (e.g., it's not shown on talk pages). –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 15:49, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- I see. Thanks, Airplaneman ✈ Review? 16:06, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
I have to refresh the page several times to see the Dazzle! tab (a problem listed at the bottom of the main page). I use IE8. WikiCopter (♠ • ♣ • ♥ • ♦ • simple • commons • lost • cvu • onau) 01:18, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
