A double Eddy
editI nominate Kazamzam to be Editor of the Week for their dedicated, long-term efforts to improve the encyclopedia. They joined the project in 2021, and have over 13,000 mainspace edits to their name. They have expanded and improved countless stubs, besides reverting vandalism and writing articles on a variety of topics. They have also done much work for WikiProject Unreferenced articles, steadily chipping away at the large backlog categories. 🌺 Cremastra (talk) 20:54, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Cremastra, it's great that you nominate Kazamzam. However, I think Kazamzam was awarded EotW on January 29, 2023, so we still need a bit of time before the 12-month-period ends? Cheers, --The Lonely Pather (talk) 16:58, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- Yes. Thank you Lone Pather for catching that. You may be alone on your path, but you are obviously paying attention to the scenery.> Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 17:53, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks for catching that. 🌺 Cremastra (talk) 20:50, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
12-month-period
. Meaning that folks can be renominated after 12 months? Browsing the archives, I never noticed any "double awards", but maybe I wasn't paying attention. –Novem Linguae (talk) 21:21, 11 January 2024 (UTC)- As far as I can remember there have been two doubles....Editors Mog the Mild and EpicGenius. Maybe one more? But none within a 12 month period. Not a rule...just hasn't happened yet and with a long queue I don't think it should. BTW, I'm moving this to the nomination talk page. TY. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 07:17, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
- The 12-month minimum period between awards is a rule, and I think it's a reasonable one to encourage spreading the recognition around. isaacl (talk) 17:02, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
- Personally I'd be in favour of extending it to 24 or 36 months given that there's typically a pretty decent backlog of people that need to be recognized. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:10, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
- "Mog the Mild"! Gog the Mild (talk) 17:47, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
- You don't recognize Uncle Mog, from the Bog Region?? Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 11:55, 29 June 2024 (UTC)
- Might not be the right time for this rule change since we are currently short on candidates –Novem Linguae (talk) 22:18, 28 June 2024 (UTC)

Wrong template
editOn the main EOTW page, Gonnym's EOTW template is displayed, not Ctxz2323's. @Buster7, can you please fix this? Thanks, Prodraxis (talk) 00:42, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
- User:Prodraxis, Thanks for catching this. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 00:51, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
The EDDY cupboard is almost empty
editThis week's award will go to Editor Queen of Hearts, a fine example of the type of editor that diligently works behind the scenes to enrich the encyclopedia and keep it a source of factual/statistical information. Over the past month we accelerated the awarding in order to keep the nominations timely and fresh. But the cupboard is now close to bare again and additional nominations are needed. Thanks to those members that have taken the time to congratulate the past awardees during "their week". The genuine outpouring of support from fellow collaborators can go a long way in retaining editors. It doesn't take much time to congratulate and to thank, and the result is so rewarding. I'm sure we can all attest to the fact that individual attention by fellow editors is both uplifting and challenging. Editor Retention most often happens one editor at a time...person to person...editor to editor. Hundreds of EotW recipients have stated that the Editor of the Week award, and the supportive messages conveyed, have given them pause to reflect on continuing what they love to do---edit Wikipedia. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 12:05, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Buster7: Does this mean I can pull out the list of people on my phone and help fill the cupboard up a good bit? I had to hold off from nominating quite a few people a while back. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:57, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
additional nominations are needed
. Sounds like a yes to me :) –Novem Linguae (talk) 22:17, 28 June 2024 (UTC)- Yes it does Josh. Just keep in mind that if the queue is tooooooo long and the time between nomination and awarding is months, the stats grow stale. Its a bit like bread. It tastes better fresh. With 4 in the queue I get Anxious. With 12 in the queue I get Nervous. With that consideration, your nominations are more than welcome. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 10:37, 29 June 2024 (UTC)
- Good news. All ready up to 7. But don't let my micro-managing influence your exuberance. Any retailer would love to have a long line stretching out the door. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 11:07, 29 June 2024 (UTC)

editI just want to thank the many editors that obviously have this page on their watchlists. It gives me a sense of well-being knowing that there are friends out there that ready and willing to participate in this on-going salute to our fellow editors. As I creep toward my 80th birthday, I need all the help I can get. Keep shaking the trees. There are thousands of editors that deserve a simple pat on the back. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 13:10, 31 July 2024 (UTC)i
- No Buster, thank YOU most of all for all the work that you've done to keep this going for so long. I'm confident your efforts have helped to retain a number of folks, made people feel special, made them feel appreciated, and have caused Wikipedia to be improved. Good vibes and recognition go a long way, and I cannot say how grateful I am for everything that you do and have done. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:27, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- I hope you know how much we appreciate your work as well! I know you've turned down your own Eddy a couple of times, but your years of work bringing recognition to other editors while staying behind the scenes yourself might make you the most deserving recipient. —TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 17:53, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for these kind words. It's been a lonely time for quite a while---Isaacl has helped a lot, lot, lot over the years and has been a competent and consistent and watchful companion. Primefac is always ready to help set up the Hall of Fame as a new year approaches and to help find glitches I may create. DennisBrown had a good idea years ago. His philosophy was retaining editors one at a time. A bunch of editors created much of the stuff (that have become the tools I use to Award) when Editor Retention was just starting. The Talk page use to be a vibrant cornucopia of voices. But most left for greener pastures and fine WP careers. I hope they know that the seeds they planted are still bearing fruit. Thanks for the little things you both do to keep the ship tidy but most of all for the great and continuous nominations. I have every confidence that the circle of Eddy nominators will continue to grow. I only hope they are "Quality" like you
twothree. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 21:55, 31 July 2024 (UTC)- Fix pings: Primefac, Dennis Brown. –Novem Linguae (talk) 22:22, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- Always happy to help, and glad that you've been working on it all these years. Primefac (talk) 12:25, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
- To be fair, we did award Buster an Eddy back in 2022. He definitely deserves way more praise than that, not just because of EotW, but because of the positive outlook he brings to everything. Soni (talk) 12:41, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks Soni. But as the photo to the right shows I have received my fair share of rewards over the years. The fact that a new cadre of WER clerks has appeared is reward enuf. I feel as agile as a goat...an old goat but agile still! Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 19:57, 1 August 2024 (UTC)

- Is the hair all natural? Gog the Mild (talk) 20:06, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
- As Sextus Empiricus once said; "Is anything really natural". Or in other words: "Estne aliquid realiter naturale", which I'm sure you know. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 20:25, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
Gerda
editTrue to her kind ways, Gerda has repeatedly declined nomination for this award, no matter how much we all think she deserves it!

I nominate Gerda Arendt to be Editor of the Week for two reasons. First of all, she is a dedicated content creator, particularly in the realm of classical music. I don't know whether she has kept an exact count of created articles and DYKs, but let's just say there's a lot of both. My second reason is that Gerda contributes a great deal of the kindness to the community through her ongoing efforts to encourage and recognize her fellow editors. Her long-term campaign of charity is detailed at Wikipedia:Precious. Thank you, Gerda! Lepricavark (talk) 16:09, 24 October 2017 (UTC)

Nomination from Serial Number 54129
editNote that Buster7 was recognized in August 2022. Those involved with administering Editor of the Week declined recognition for a long time, but after nine and a half years we agreed to recognize Buster7 (and I accepted my recognition after missing it at the nomination phase). isaacl (talk) 17:11, 10 August 2024 (UTC)
- Issacl. Thank you. I'm thinking of just clearing out all the drawers and throwing away ALL my notes that are buried in the sandboxes. I really just know how to edit WP. Not Word or any of the other platforms. I'm not sure of the technical stuff, as you well know. Maybe i'ts time for a fresh start with saving stuff. Now that the cat is out of the bag, I'm sure I stepped in a cow pie somewhere along the line. Best I get rid of it Now!!! Waadda ya think??? Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 03:15, 11 August 2024 (UTC)

A double Eddy
editI want to award the first double Eddy to two editors that have worked tirelessly to edit, maintain editor decorum, and inform others via clear and concise edit summaries, all the while herding cats, at some of the most difficult articles ever written in OUR name. They will remain nameless while I work on the wording to put what they do into meaningful perspective. I just want to get into the queue ASAP. More to come! Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 09:45, 29 August 2024 (UTC)

edit- Watching these two editors maintain relative peace and quiet in a "HOT" arena like no other (except perhaps on-going WAR articles) has been remarkable. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 10:05, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thx Buster. I received this award in 2015. And I'm semi-retired now; check my stats, you'll see that my contribution is way down. ―Mandruss ☎ 19:23, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
- Okay. Your quantity of contributions may be down compared to your historic levels but not the Quality or the Importance. And you may be semi-retired. And you may have received this award nine long years ago before the arrival of MrTrump. Voices in the real world tell us what an important time this is...voices that warn of "one of those moments in time that reverberate" for decades. I am past retirement age myself and I know that what I do here is important. But, what you and Space do is much more important than dispensing an internal award. You are getting the award and that's all there is to it! Have a nice day! Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 04:43, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
- Further thoughts. About ten years ago you got the award for "musing about the future". Well. The Future has arrived, and you are not musing anymore. What you and Space are doing to safeguard the "truth of the matter" can't be overstated. I watchlist it every day. Your mutual commitments deserve notice even if it's just with a silly little WP trinket. Who came up with the genius "Current Consensus" idea. One of you two right? Over the years we both have seen articles like this collapse into a giant mess. That did not happen thanks to you two. I'm sure there were others. Accept it for them. Or we can change it to some kind of umbrella award. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 13:31, 30 August 2024 (UTC)

Editor of the Week nominations needed
editThe Editor of the Week initiative has been recognizing editors since 2013 for their hard work and dedication. Editing Wikipedia can be disheartening and tedious at times; the weekly Editor of the Week award lets its recipients know that their positive behaviour and collaborative spirit is appreciated. The response from the honorees has been enthusiastic and thankful.
The list of nominees is running short, and so new nominations are needed for consideration. Have you come across someone in your editing circle who deserves a pat on the back for improving article prose regularly, making it easier to understand? Or perhaps someone has stepped in to mediate a contentious dispute, and did an excellent job. Do you know someone who hasn't received many accolades and is deserving of greater renown? Is there an editor who does lots of little tasks well, such as cleaning up a citation.
Please help us thank editors who display sustained patterns of excellence, working tirelessly in the background, out of the spotlight, by submitting your nomination for Editor of the Week today! Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 15:26, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Ask and you shall receive. :) —TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 17:26, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
