Self-referencing

edit

Apologies if my edit went against guidelines on self-referencing – I thought that because the point of the article was about a Wikipedian in his role as a Wikipedian, it would be appropriate to link through & remove the red-link in the article text. Dave (talk) 12:10, 29 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

No prob! As someone said to me waybackwhen, "you're not a real Wikipedian until you've made at least 50 mistakes".
Regarding this page, I think it's perhaps somewhat like User:Shimgray/Citation needed - not quite 'notable' enough for mainspace yet, but surely will be soonish. This and that page could be said to 'belong' in mainspace or draft/userspace, depending on one's POV. -- Quiddity (talk) 19:41, 29 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

The article was {{prod}} tagged today. I've reverted, with the rationale: I object to speedy deletion, but would agree to a move to either userspace (primary author=User:Harrypotter) or projectspace (a subpage of Wikipedia:GLAM/BM) for further development, before being moved back. I'd suggest projectspace. HTH. -- Quiddity (talk) 00:45, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

As the person who is highly involved with this article's subject matter I have a hard time believing this is a Notable subject. Maybe this topic is important to the WP community but we wouldn't have articles about other organisations' internal structure or so why should we have one about ourselves. As the world's #1 expert on "Wikipedians in Residence", I think we should defer to Liam here; something in projectspace might be nice as an alternative.--Pharos (talk) 02:35, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Improving the page; redirects and such

Can this page be worked up considerably, into something more informative of what a WiR is and what the program means for WP in particular, how it works, how it interacts with WP:COI (especially for paid WiRs), etc.? It could borrow liberally from both the article on the topic and the Outreach page, but focus on WP's own editors' interest in and questions about this concept. It's been remarkably difficult to find anything about it.

In furtherance of that aim, I've:

WIR not wikipedians?

I asked a question here. Perhaps I'm confused about how this program works. Chris Troutman (talk) 17:32, 21 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Merge?

edit

Would it be sensible to merge this into Wikipedian in residence? I can't see what unique information is contained at this page that couldn't be integrated. T.Shafee(Evo&Evo)talk 06:59, 24 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
