"ignore most of the written rules, while not breaking any of the unwritten ones" seems backwards

edit

Unwritten rules are not rules, and they remain unwritten for a reason. They're at best just local consensus enforced with peer-pressure by a bunch of gatekeeping editors trying to turn a topic area into their own country club. Interpreting IAR to mean "ignore the written rules while still strictly following the unwritten rules" is equivalent to saying "As a group, regulars can do whatever they want. Everyone else has to either continue strictly following the written rules or just go along with what regulars tell them". spintheer (talk) 19:45, 22 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
