Copyright violation
editPlease can you ensure that students fully understand that material must not violate copyright - see WP:COPYVIO. The work done to Intel 80286, for example, has all been reverted. The text and images have been deleted because they were clearly copy/paste directly from other Internet sources or text books. We love having students use Wikipedia, but it is a pain having to clear up after them. --Biker Biker (talk) 13:26, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
- I second this. Unfortunately, I have found almost all edits of members of this course inspected by me so far to be copies from text books and various online sources, often as 1:1 copies, and sometimes with minor changes in wording. Plagiarism and copyright violations are not tolerable as they are illegal and put the whole Wikipedia project at risk. Also, they invalidate the work of many other editors, and can hardly be seen as good ethical standards for the further education and future professional life of the students. I really wonder about the instructions and advice given to the students of these courses. Any such problematic contents must be removed again as soon as possible because it only becomes more difficult to remove when other editors work on top of the contaminated articles. --Matthiaspaul (talk) 00:34, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
