Hello, Korean wikipedians and non-korean wikipedians interested in Korea (both south and north).
There's also a Korean Wikipedia. http://ko.wikipedia.org 한국어 위키백과도 있습니다. http://ko.wikipedia.org
Let's talk about various themes about Korean items in Wikipedia. Here are several themes being discussed at the same time. Please do not write your opinion just at the end of this page, but tail it in each section.
Finished business is moved to the archive after a decent interval.
Requests for information or comment
Old and satisfied requests are listed in the archive.
Korean name needed
Do you need the Korean name(s) of something or somebody? You can post a link to the article here. You can also add this to the article itself: {{koreanname}}. That will notify other editors that a Korean name is needed.
- Gold girdle of Korea (Can anyone think of a better name?)
- Korean Bell of Friendship (It's in Cali.)
- Sites of fossilized dinosaurs throughout the southern seacoast (a better name, anyone?)
- Natural Heritage District of Jeju Island
- Complex of Goguryeo Tombs
- Chang Koehan
- Choi Bounge
- …
Hanja needed
If you need hanja to complete a name table, set the "hanja" field to "!", like this: {{koreanname|hangul=홍길동|hanja=!}}. Please also add a link to the article here.
Kosian
I really want to delete the article of Kosian because it may cause racial discrimination in Korea. Please discuss about the talk page. --Drpepper000 00:46, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
Somebody help me
I am preparing Korean royal cuisine, and it may take about a month to finish it... Somebody help me if you know about it. --Drpepper000 17:51, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
- I don't know much about it, but I could have a few inputs in there. (Wikimachine 01:24, 2 November 2006 (UTC))
English name of main material for 쌍화차
- Sukjihwang(숙지황, 熟地黃)
- Danggwi(당귀, 當歸)
- Cheongung(천궁,川芎)
- Jakyak(작약,芍藥)

Anyone who expertise in these areas?--Hairwizard91 15:15, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- Don't actually know much about this area, but here's what I've gleaned from a bit of online research:
- 작약: peony.
- 당귀: angelica (in Korean usage, specifically Angelica gigas).
- 천궁: Cnidium officinale (no common name).
- 숙지황: root of Rehmannia glutinosa (sometimes called "Chinese foxglove").
- 감초: Chinese Liquorice, Glycyrrhiza uralensis.
- 황기: Astragalus membranaceus (sometimes called "Chinese milk vetch").
- Hope that's helpful. Cheers, -- Visviva 17:10, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
Requesting hanja
Hi all,
Just thought I'd mention that I've created Category:Wikipedia articles needing hanja. Adding an article to this category is very simple; in the name table, just set "hanja=!". I hope this will be helpful, and make it easier to find articles that are missing this key little bit of information. -- Visviva 05:58, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
arky and prehistory stuff: relative importance etc
Hello All, Just a brief note to remind everyone to take a look at some of the following to see if I and other editors have set up everything correctly, according to the conventions. Also, I was wondering if somebody would take a stab at assessing the relative importance level of:
- Jeulmun pottery period
- Mumun pottery period
- Daepyeong
- Igeum-dong site
- Kim Won-yong
- Korean Archaeological Society
- Songgung-ni
There are some other indicated on my user page. 여러분, 하루 잘 보내세요. Mumun 14:53, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- National Museum of Korea is nice. Also, it would be nice to have short individual articles on each of the regional national museums. Mumun 17:52, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Endroit are trying to remove some part of the article in Joseonsa Pyeonsuhoe even though it is cited article. I wish somebody help me to progress the article about Joseonsa Pyeonsuhoe(조선총독부의 조선사편수회). --Hairwizard91 21:09, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
- See Talk:Reorganization Agent of Korean History#Samguk Yusa, regarding the Simplified Chinese character 国 on the left side of Image:Hwanin hwanguk.jpg. Could this character have been used in the 13th century original version of Samguk Yusa? Please comment.--Endroit 21:33, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
- I just describe it based on the article of Korea Britanica encyclopedia. You seems to do original research. --Hairwizard91 22:19, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
Please help
I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but there's been a series of Japanese vandalism on many articles that have led to page protection. This has happened to Korea, Kofun period, Joseon Dynasty have been protected recently, and similar thing has happened to Korea under Japanese rule, Battle of Myeongnyang, and I'm sure others.
It looks like we have the same combination of original research, Japanese nationalism, anonymous IP's, mangled English, and revert battling, now at Korean-Japanese disputes. Please help revert the vandalism. Maybe protecting this page too is the only answer.
Also, please be sure to add these and other pages to your "watchlist" and monitor changes. Maintaining the integrity of existing pages is at least as important as improving or adding new articles. The more people watching more articles, the faster we can undo and discourage these attacks. Thanks. Room218 06:20, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
Fair use disputed
Wikimachine asked me to notify people about my tagging of Image:Tan Kem Dae Memorial for Sin Lip.jpg with some “fair use disputed” template. Note that besides the fair use issue, I don't think the image would add much to any article anyway. Wikipeditor 01:51, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
- It doesn't look like fair use to me either,
but more immediately, seeing "Tan Kem Dae" for 탄금대 kind of makes my head hurt.but also, "Tan Kem Dae" should be fixed to "Tangeumdae". --Reuben 02:15, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Revert by User_talk:Ryulong
I have suggest to move Korea under Japanese rule to Illegal Occupation by Japan In discussion page. But, he or she remove the moving tag. I dont understand why she or he is doing. In addition, I want everybody to join the discussion. --Hairwizard91 07:24, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
- The word "illegal" is POV. As much as I sympathize that the historical Japanese occupation of Korea could be considered "illegal" we have to set aside such politically charged titles and use a more neutral title if we want to create a truly neutral encyclopedia. --MerkurIX(이야기하세요!)(투고) 07:43, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
