Extracurricular activities
editSince this is partly a replacement for the semi-cancelled Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Wikipedia Day 2022, and our largest in-person event in some time, maybe we could do additional activities like lightning talks during the event, and maybe a walking tour afterwards.--Pharos (talk) 16:30, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
WikiWednesday discussion 7pm tonight about future of outdoor NYC wiki-events
editWe'll have some discussion and informal planning of this event and future outdoor NYC events tonight at 7pm, details at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/March 2022.--Pharos (talk) 04:55, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
Bike parking?
editWhat's the situation with safe places to park a bicycle at the venue? -- RoySmith (talk) 17:43, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
- It appears there is an indoor bike rack, among other options. Pharos (talk) 16:14, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
Lightning talks
editWe might do a few impromptu lightning talks (about 3 minutes each), though it would be pretty informal as there's no A/V system. Might do this section around noon, or whenever works:
- The art of the WP:Wiknic and outdoor events.--Pharos (talk) 12:50, 26 March 2022 (UTC)
- -Wikipedia as bridge for biliteracy.--DrX (talk) 15:53, 26 March 2022 (UTC)
- -Wiki-weather and a few songs about weather. Hurricanehink mobile (talk) 18:58, 26 March 2022 (UTC)
- That sounds fun! :) @Hurricanehink mobile DrX (talk) 19:05, 26 March 2022 (UTC)
- We also had the pleasure, from the WMF side, of hearing from Quim on communications, and James on Abstract Wikipedia.--Pharos (talk) 02:31, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
Potential covid exposure
editHad this message from the Wikimedia Foundation, wanted to share out of an abundance of caution: "We had one Foundation staff member who attended the event and tested positive two days after the meetup. Our contact tracing suggests it was likely from a contact they had dinner with and was unrelated to the event, but wanted to share this information with you."--Pharos (talk) 15:51, 1 April 2022 (UTC)
