Where at Barnard College?

edit

Exactly where at Barnard College is this event? Any suggestions about parking for motorists from far out of town?--DThomsen8 (talk) 19:09, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Barnard Hall is the building straight ahead as you enter the main Barnard College gate. Gate is just north of W 116th Street on your left at 2987 Broadway. Event is scheduled for Barnard Hall, James Room on 4th floor.
Closest parking:
  1. St. Luke's Hospital Garage, 502 W 114th St at Amsterdam. $27 for up to 10 hrs on Sun.
  2. Rapid Park, 621 W 120 St near Riverside. $24 for up to 10 hrs on Sun. (Garage may be full at 10 am Sun because of Riverside Church next door.)
Also see Barnard's Parking List here.

Pharos suggested I contact CUNY on this page. I'm going to give one or more open space sessions on editing text in Wikipedia.

I've developed ideas for fixing typos and inserting content, both with and without citations. I have enough examples so that everyone can learn by doing. Each lesson follows the See It, Learn It, Do It paradigm: I make a fix on the projected screen. Then they make the same kind of a fix based on what I've just showed them. Then (when they're at home) they find and make the same fixes themselves.

I'll assume that everyone who attends wants lessons on how to make edits to Wikipedia. I don't plan to give a lot of background but more-or-less dive into how to fix typos. I also plan to let the attendees drive the lesson; for example, if the bulk of them are already past fixing simple typos then we'll move on the content insertions. At 30 minutes per session, I can easily fill four sessions, if anyone is interested.

CUNY, can you tell me what material you have prepared so that we don't bump heads? --RoyGoldsmith (talk) 20:48, 21 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Ok. Good. It's set up at https://new.livestream.com/internetsociety/wikidaynyc15/ - can I get an official hashtag to promote? Wwwhatsup (talk) 18:19, 17 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
I guess the most natural short-form hashtag would be just #WikiDay .--Pharos (talk) 01:22, 21 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Tweets were useful. There were around 18 online viewers at any one time. We had a cume of 375 views. I have segmented the video into an archive as below. I could further break out the lightning talks if wanted. Wwwhatsup (talk) 02:03, 23 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
