Parents as namechecking
editI am not entirely sure that identification of parents names in articles is a problem that this essay intends to address. I agree with the rest of the examples. --Bejnar (talk) 21:46, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
- Common practice is that it can be acceptable to give forenames (and possibly occupations) of non-notable parents (I don't see the argument for extending this to siblings; any notable & bluelinked relatives can of course be mentioned) in biographical articles where the extra detail is appropriately and succinctly presented, does not bloat the article and does not seem overly namechecky. Relevance, not notability
editMuch of what this essay says is basically nonsense (for example, the inclusion of names of people relevant to a topic plainly does assist reader's understanding) and the proposition that all people mentioned must always be notable (rather than merely relevant, even if one or more independent sources say they are relevant) appears incompatible with NNC.
