Wikipedia talk:Neutral point of view/BCE-CE Debate/Discussion
BC/AD is much more widely used. The idea to change this is, based upon someone's anti-religion belief. I dont know anyone who sees a BC and thinks "oh look they are shoving religion down our throats."
If we change this to BCE/CE, then we are opening a can of worms. It has always been BC/AD, so who in their right mind thinks they are special enough to change this, and do a disservice to the ones who came up with this. Are we going to change the planet's names next, because a lot of them are named after Roman and Greek gods? Are we going to change the monthy of July's name because it is after Caesar who was responsible for many deaths and conquering nations?
Just because someone finds a way to make this debate more about their beliefs than the reality of the situation, doesn't give them the right to change it. Keep it as is.
Here is a solution, let the user choose if they want BC or BCE. It would be easy to create an algorithm and code to change any Date to BC or BCE based upon the readers preference
