Nonsequitur

edit

The page has "see screenshot above", but there isn't one. LeadSongDog come howl! 18:21, 10 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yes there is; it's File:2014-05-13 Nick Jennings ORCID Wikidata screenshot.png. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 23:10, 10 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Ah, that image. At least for Safari, the placement is on the right, beside the text. LeadSongDog come howl! 00:27, 11 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
It is above in the flow of the page, "above" is the standard term in such cases. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:27, 11 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Under the Better method: Wikidata section, a reference to P496 gives the following information:

P496 This entity does not exist. You can search the related logs to find out where it went. You can also create a new one.

Did you mean this link instead? https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P496

Citation project

edit

Andy, just finished seeing your METRO presentation/Hangout - and I was really excited by the Citation project. But in the article page you speak of it more as a future project rather than something can be implemented now. What would it take to activate this project? kosboot (talk) 19:44, 12 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Kosboot: Short term, resolving the issues discussed in Help talk:Citation Style 1/Archive 5#ORCID, redux and preceding discussions, so that we can add an ORCID parameters to citation templates. Long term, we're waiting on the migration of citation metadata to Wikidata. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 21:04, 12 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
I see you left your last call for moving forward in May 2014 and no one has responded. Doesn't bode well, does it? I've long thought that the way citations are done on WP is idiotic with one having to repeat the same information multiple times in multiple articles. Is there anything that can be done? kosboot (talk) 02:30, 13 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Usage after Dissemin campaign

edit

Are you aware of any noticeable surge in usage after our Dissemin green open access campaign? We've got thousands papers deposited and potentially some people signed in or even signup in ORCID even if they didn't end up depositing anything (and/or they added more papers to their ORCID via other methods such as BASE), so there could be some effect. https://orcid.org/statistics now says 820k IDs with works, compared to 806k 14 days before, but I can't tell whether this is an uncommon increase. --Nemo 20:18, 25 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

The list of DOIs is https://zenodo.org/record/997222 , in case it's useful for you to cross-check with recent data inserted in ORCID. I could also provide a filtered list of author names. --Nemo 09:48, 26 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

edit
See meta:Community_Wishlist_Survey_2020/Wikiversity/Autopopulate_userpage_starting_info_from_ORCID

I've added a request on a few of these items on the 2020 Community Wishlist Survey"

  • Option 1) Just auto add an template based on the orcid
  • Option 2) Copy over basic information from ORCID to populate the userpage
  • Option 3) Add/transclude their scholia profile to the userpage
  • Option 4) Allow users to verify their ORCID and associate it with their Wikimedia identity
  • Option 5) Allow users to log in using their ORCID profile

ORCID "Other ID" section

edit

@Pigsonthewing: ORCID pages have a "Other IDs" section that contains identifiers like: Scopus ID, Loop profile, ISNI. This'd be a perfect location to list the wikidata item! Could you suggest to the ORCID pulling wikidata items for ORCIDs via the api? T.Shafee(Evo&Evo)talk 02:06, 4 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
