Wikipedia talk:STiki/DTTR warning

Note that, due to a MediaWiki bug, no returns should be inserted after "br" tags within {{quote}}s.

Proposed version by Allens

edit

The user you are about to revert has 50+ article edits. Many on Wikipedia suggest not "templating the regulars" (see [[WP:DTTR]]).
You will now be returned to the STiki window to re-inspect the edit. Whichever option you choose this time will be applied as normal.
If the edit is truly unconstructive, revert it. However, wiki-etiquette indicates that a polite and personalized user talk page message is preferred over standardized warning templates for such users.
Alternatively, if the situation is ambiguous you should consider leaving an article talk page message.

Note that the message will also need changing if the threshold (currently 50) is to be altered; since it is referenced in two different places in the code, I suggest making the threshold a global constant (inserted automatically into the message). I have transfered both the above versions to different versions of Wikipedia:STiki/DTTR warning. That way we can use the standard diff technology to compare them. I have added a further update with some tweaks of my own. Yaris678 (talk) 08:17, 20 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Good point about diffs. The [[WP:DTTR]] link will not work inside the warning message with the current code, however; I'm not sure how difficult it would be to program in (Java "objects" are not my cup of tea...). Allens (talk | contribs) 20:54, 20 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yes. I think that Andrew will have to tweak the encoding of the message in Java. It probably deals with line breaks differently too. But I thought it best to get it looking like what we want it to look like first. In the unlikely event that the encoding is an issue, we can discuss that with Andrew at the time. Hmm... in talking about Andrew tweaking the encoding, I am forgetting that you are happy to edit your local version of the STiki code! Is the current version on the wiki something that that you could make your local version of STiki look like? Yaris678 (talk) 15:39, 25 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
